VOLUNTEER SERVICE TO OTHERS
An organisation that is as large and diverse as Shanti is grateful for every bit of support. For this reason, volunteers are always welcome
From the start, Shanti has offered both young and young at heart the possibility to make a difference – each according to their own abilities.
Young people often come to Shanti for a while after completing school. This provides them with an opportunity to think about what they want to be and to see more of the world while doing meaningful work.
Those who are interested in doing work with Shanti should contact the organisation in Dortmund, Germany directly. A schedule can also be coordinated at that time.
THE VOLUNTEERS DECIDE FOR THEMSELVES HOW LONG THEY WANT TO STAY
Unlike some other organisations, volunteers at Shanti can decide for themselves how long they wish to stay. Most come for 2-3 months.
They are housed in a flat in Kathmandu. Volunteers are fed at Shanti during the day – the delicious food from chef Ghanu is popular with everyone!
For room and board they pay 50 Euro per week, and they pay for their own travel arrangements.
Many combine their work for Shanti with an excursion into the remote hinterlands, a trekking tour or travels to other Asian countries.
Shanti is very thankful for the volunteers' wonderful imagination that enriches life here as well as their refreshing enthusiasm, which allows them to overcome every difficulty they face in Nepal.
They are also role models for the Shanti youth due to their service and fearlessness, and provide lots of inspiration for everyday activities.
